WE ARE CALLED

Jesus' invitation to the Kingdom of God is free, but it comes with a cost. He has asked us to take up our own cross and so we must decide whether we wish to live a life of powerful calling or to choose the things of this world. This calling isn't always full-time ministry, instead, it is simply saying "yes" to what He asks of us. If you saw Jesus in-person and He asked you to "follow me," would you leave your normal life behind?

WE ARE CONNECTED

No matter where we were born or what we look like, our true identity comes from the Prince of Peace. This identity connects us to others and it connects us to the One who saves, heals, provides, and brings our souls true rest. Our royal connection to Jesus allows us to walk boldly before man, demons, and the very Throne of God. When you accepted Christ as your Lord, you gained a new identity and a new purpose that breaks chains.

WE ARE CRUCIAL

We serve a calling greater than ourselves—to proclaim a Gospel that sets captives free. In a world full of lies, the light within us is something that should never be hidden. The power of Christ restores generations from brokenness, frees slaves from bondage, heals the wounded, shifts the unmoveable, and loves the unloveable. Billions of people cry out for the very hope that we hold and we are the few who will share it.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

Missions Director &

Chair of Intercultural Studies

Rev. Rennae de Freitas, M.A.

Rennae de Freitas supervises the student leadership of SMA, providing mentorship and oversight. With a rich history as Assemblies of God World Missionaries since 1993, Rennae and her family dedicated 20 years to service in the Dominican Republic. Their impactful work spanned missions mobilization, compassion initiatives, anti-human trafficking efforts, and AG Bible school teaching.

Administrative Coordinator

Ethan Mendoza, M.A.

Ethan Mendoza serves as the "hands and feet" of the SAGU Missions Department by providing strategic and logistical assistance to the university, SMA ministries, and trips. As a prior SMA Treasurer and Trip Leader, Ethan's heart is to disciple and connect SAGU students to their God-given calling in any way possible.

SMA President

Grant Nordan

Grant Nordan is the current President of the Southwestern Missions Association and oversees the executive leadership team. Growing up as an Assemblies of God pastor’s kid, Grant has been involved in ministries for 10+ years. He intends to continue in ministry as a full-time international missionary by starting businesses and raising and training leaders.

SMA Secretary

Jacob Watson

Jacob Watson serves as the Secretary of SMA. He strives to take care of the other executives' well-being and organize events. As the secretary, he works to foster deep discipleship and meaningful impacts throughout all branches. When asked about his role, he defines his primary purpose in a single word, "servanthood."

SMA Treasurer

Rhett Brauchler

Rhett Brauchler oversees the budgeting, fundraising, and Giving Projects of SMA. Rhett received his Bachelor's in Church Leadership from SAGU and is working towards a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; he plans to serve God wherever he is placed, both as a Pastor and Counselor to the teens and young adults of the world.

SMA VP of Prayer & Advocacy

Jory Daack

Jory Daack oversees the Prayer and Advocacy Branch of SMA, He endeavors to bring Prayer, Intercession, and Growth in Faith to the students of SAGU. This is accomplished through five different prayer ministries meeting every week as well Campus events that gather a large student population together to pray and gain awareness about the needs in our community and around the world.

SMA VP of Community Outreach

Kaitlyn Scheitler

Kaitlyn Scheitler oversees the Community Outreach Branch of SMA. She is pursuing a Bachelor's in Social Work and Associate's in Intercultural Studies to prepare her for the mission field and working with vulnerable populations. She wants to spread Christ's light to the darkness of the world, whether that's in Dallas or oversees.

SMA VP of World Outreach

Eva Thomas

Eva Thomas oversees the World Outreach Branch of SMA. The purpose of World Outreach is to reach the lost both on campus, in Waxahachie, and around the world. There is no greater gift than being able to share the great joy of freedom that the Lord has given through the Gospel. Eva works to train students in how to effectively live out the Great Commission in any culture and place.

SMA Media Manager

Maya Baki

Maya Baki serves as the coordinator of media for SMA's events, promotional material, and social media. Maya is currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Marketing at SAGU and hopes to utilize the knowledge and skills gained from her business education for the sake of the Gospel in the missions field.
